How we keep this current

Sources, checked monthly

OpenAI's availability table is the authority. Because it changes without announcements, we cross-check it against independent trackers on the first of each month and whenever a wave is reported.

Who writes this

LocalAds makes ad creative: square images and short copy generated from your product page. We are not an OpenAI partner, we do not place ads, and we cannot guarantee any placement, so nothing here depends on selling you the channel.

FAQ

Short answers.

Is ChatGPT Ads available to all advertisers?

Self-serve Ads Manager is open to businesses registered in 63 countries as of 2026-10-13, covering North America, Brazil, all of Europe, the Middle East including the UAE and Saudi Arabia, North Africa, India, Japan, Korea, Australia, New Zealand, and South-East Asia including Singapore. Businesses elsewhere can register interest at ads.openai.com. Some categories allowed in the US are restricted in other countries.

Who sees ads in ChatGPT?

Logged-in adults on the Free and Go plans. Plus, Pro, Business, Enterprise and Education plans are ad-free. Ads appear as a labelled Sponsored card below a relevant answer, and OpenAI says ads do not influence the answer itself or share chat content with advertisers.

What ad formats does ChatGPT have?

The core unit is the Sponsored card: a 1:1 image, a short title, one line of copy and a landing URL. Shopping advertisers can run product feed campaigns, including virtual try-on for clothing and accessories. On 5 October 2026 OpenAI announced visual ads next to image-generation results, starting as a US-only test.

How much do ChatGPT ads cost?

Self-serve campaigns bid on CPC or CPM. Third-party reports put the US minimum daily budget around $25 and recommended maximum CPCs around $3 to $5, with CPMs varying widely by topic. OpenAI does not publish a rate card, so treat any figure as reported rather than confirmed.

How often does ChatGPT Ads change?

Often, and frequently without an announcement. The country table moved from 9 to 63 markets in three steps between 2 and 23 September 2026, and only one of those steps had a press release. That is why every fact on this page carries a date and a source.

Is LocalAds an OpenAI partner?

No. LocalAds makes ad creative: 1:1 squares and short copy generated from your product page, which you upload to OpenAI's Ads Manager yourself. We do not buy, place or manage ads, which is also why this guide has no reason to oversell the channel.
